Annie Leibovitz

Annie Leibovitz is a photographer who takes many portraits. She is most well known for taking pictures of celebrities that are in an intimate pose. She took the last photo of John Lennon before his death. She also took other portraits such as one of the Sopranos and one of Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. When Annie Leibovitz was young she had to move around constantly. Annie Leibovitz recently has made a masterclass on photography as she is one of the best and most influential female photographers in the world. Annie Leibovitz’s style is greatly influenced by her first photo. She was also influenced by Robert Frank and Henri Cartier-Bresson one year after she had taken studies in 1970 at the San Francisco Institute of Art she managed to get on the cover of the Rolling Stones Magazine. A mere two years after she got on the cover of the Rolling Stones Magazine she became the chief photographer for that magazine. She held that position for ten years until she decided to take a position at Vanity Fair.  Annie Leibovitz was born in Waterbury, Connecticut. The date of her birth was  October 2, 1949. Her parents’ name was Marilyn Ediths and Samuel Leibovitz. She is a third-generation American and a Jew. Annie Leibovitz took her first pictures in the Philippines while her father was stationed there during the Vietnam War. Annie Leibovitz was awarded The Royal Photographic Society's Centenary Medal and Honorary Fellowship while she worked at the Rolling Stones

Jimmy Chin

Jimmy Chin is a mountain climber and adventure photographer.  He is most famous for the documentary solo. In this climb Alex Honnalds free solos the mountain el Capitan that is 2307 meters. That means that he climbed the mountain without any safety equipment which means that if he falls that he would die. He was born in the flatland of the midwest and only got his inspiration for photography when he was 12 and visited a mountain. Chin was at Yosemite while training for Pakistan when he took a few pictures and submitted them to an outdoor clothing company and the editor bought them. This inspired Chin to take more photos. His phots were put onto journals such as National Geographic, Outside, Men's Journal, and Patagonia. Jimmy Chin has a wife whose name is Chai Vasarhelyi and they have a daughter Marina and son, James. Jimmy Chin climbed many mountains to take pictures such as Chang Tang Plateau in Tibet, Everest, Jimmy Chin was raised in Mankato, Minnesota, and went to Wayland Academy. He is a first-generation American whose parents came were from China. He worked in the filming of Meru and for almost ten years he had been part of The North Face Athlete Team. He did not at first believe that he would become a professional photographer. He just wanted to take very good beautiful pictures for fun and that eventually became his job. He had mentors who helped him learn but most of his photography was due to mistakes that he made along his journey. One big turning point for Jimmy Chin was Conrad Anker. When he took pictures of him for North Face he was paid and began his career began to become photography.
